Anxious Attachment
Early dating tends to activate this pattern more than almost any other context.
Early dating involves a lot of ambiguity by design, unclear timelines, unclear intentions, unanswered texts. For someone with anxious attachment, that ambiguity can be especially hard to tolerate, since the nervous system tends to fill uncertain gaps with worst-case interpretations.
This can show up as overanalyzing texts, moving faster than feels comfortable just to reduce uncertainty, or reading a slow reply as a sign of disinterest. It can also mean staying in early-stage relationships longer than makes sense, since the anxiety of leaving can feel worse than the anxiety of an unclear situation.
Building tolerance for ambiguity matters more here than any specific texting strategy. That usually means learning to sit with not knowing, rather than needing constant reassurance to manage the discomfort of uncertainty.
