Are you a fully licensed therapist?

I am a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern (RMHCI) in the State of Florida, practicing under the supervision of a licensed clinician while I complete the hours required for full licensure. My supervisor's information is listed in the footer of this site and I'm happy to discuss my supervision arrangement during a consultation.

Do you accept insurance?

No. I operate on a private-pay basis and provide a superbill you can submit to your insurance carrier for possible out-of-network reimbursement, if your plan includes that benefit.

What happens in a first session?

We'll review what's bringing you to therapy, relevant history, and what you've tried before. From there we identify what to focus on and what a reasonable course of treatment might look like.

Do you offer in-person sessions?

All sessions are held virtually, by secure video, for clients located anywhere in Florida at the time of the appointment.

How do I know if this is a good fit?

The initial 15-minute phone consultation is meant for exactly this. There's no obligation to schedule a full session afterward.

How long does therapy usually take?

It depends on what you're working on and how it's going. Some clients notice meaningful shifts within a few months. Attachment-focused work, especially, tends to be a longer process since it's building new patterns, not just managing symptoms. We'll check in regularly on progress and pacing.

Is what I say confidential?

Yes, with the standard legal exceptions that apply to all therapists (such as risk of harm to yourself or others, or abuse of a child or vulnerable adult). As a supervised intern, my clinical work is also reviewed with my supervisor to ensure quality care. Those details are covered fully in your intake paperwork.

What's your cancellation policy?

Sessions canceled or rescheduled with less than 48 hours notice are subject to the full session fee.

How do telehealth sessions work?

You'll receive a secure video link before each session. You just need a private space and a stable internet connection. Telehealth is available to you as long as you're physically located in Florida at the time of the session, per state licensing rules.

What if I've been to therapy before and it didn't help?

That's common, and worth mentioning during your consultation call. Often, prior therapy focused on talking through problems without building new emotional experience, which is a different kind of work than what I focus on. It's worth discussing what didn't work before so we can approach things differently.

Do you work with couples?

No, my practice is focused on individual therapy. If couples work would be useful alongside your individual sessions, I'm glad to help you find a referral.

What age range do you work with?

I work with adults. If you're looking for a therapist for a child or teenager, I'm glad to help you find an appropriate referral.

How often will we meet?

Most clients start weekly, especially for attachment-focused work, since consistency tends to matter more than any single session. We can adjust frequency over time as things stabilize.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Major credit and debit cards, as well as HSA and FSA cards. Payment is collected at the time of each session.

Do you offer a sliding scale?

I hold a limited number of sliding-scale spots. If fee is a barrier for you, it's worth asking directly during your consultation call.

What if I'm in crisis right now?

This site and my practice do not provide emergency or crisis services. If you're in crisis, please call or text 988, or call 911.

Can you prescribe medication?

No, I'm not a prescriber. If medication seems like it could be useful alongside therapy, I'm glad to help you find a referral to a psychiatrist or prescriber.
